December 31st is the last working day of 2025 before the whole country enters the 4-day New Year holiday (from January 1st to January 4th, 2026). It is forecast that during this holiday, the demand for travel, shopping, tourism, and transportation of goods of people and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City will increase, potentially posing a risk of traffic congestion, traffic accidents and urban order complications.

Faced with the above situation, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Ho Chi Minh City Police has proactively implemented many professional measures to ensure traffic order and safety (ATGT) before, during and after the 2026 New Year holiday, with the motto "central traffic diversion, gateway safety, urban civilization".
Accordingly, the Traffic Police Department develops a plan to arrange forces to divert and regulate traffic on roads in the city center area, where activities to celebrate the New Year take place. At the same time, effectively exploit the traffic surveillance camera system, strengthen coordination with press agencies to promptly provide and update traffic information in real time, helping people proactively choose appropriate routes.
In addition, the Traffic Police Department coordinates with the Department of Construction to review under construction infrastructure works, requesting units to reduce materials and machinery, and arrange traffic controllers to limit congestion. Ho Chi Minh City Police also coordinate with the Traffic Police Department and the Police of border localities to organize traffic diversion and regulation at gateways to the city, and access roads to the expressway.
Patrol, control and handling of violations are strengthened on both roads and waterways, concentrated in the central area; roads around markets, commercial centers, entertainment and dining areas; Tan Son Nhat port and airport areas, metro stations, bus stations and roads leading to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressways.
The traffic police force focuses on strictly handling violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents such as alcohol concentration violations, drugs; violations in passenger and cargo transportation (carrying more people, overloading, oversized; stopping, parking, picking up and dropping off passengers not in accordance with regulations...).
At the same time, promptly prevent the situation of teenagers gathering and driving vehicles causing public disorder; handle three-wheeled and four-wheeled self-made vehicles, trailers, and tractors causing traffic unsafety; strengthen "cold" fines through images for acts of stopping and parking vehicles in violation of regulations.
In addition, the Traffic Police Department continues to require transport businesses and drivers to sign commitments not to carry overloaded vehicles, exceeding the prescribed number of people; not to bring vehicles that do not ensure technical safety to participate in traffic; not to install and use priority signals against regulations.
