Completing a series of projects to reduce the load on Tan Son Nhat
In mid-March, the construction atmosphere at the T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat airport became more urgent than ever. Workers worked day and night to complete the final items.
Mr. Mai Van Thanh (45 years old), a worker directly involved in the project, shared: "This is a key project of the city, everyone is trying their best to put it into operation on the occasion of April 30".
The T3 terminal project is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total capital of more than VND 10,986 billion. The station is built on an area of 112,500m2, including 1 basement and 4 upper floors, with a capacity to serve 20 million passengers per year. Started in August 2023, the project's progress has reached about 95%.
According to the T3 Terminal Project Management Board, the architectural part will be completed in March, while technical systems such as electricity, air conditioning, fire prevention and fighting, elevators, luggage handling belts, etc. are in the completion stage. The overpass system, aircraft parking lot and external infrastructure are ready to be put into operation. To ensure the inauguration on April 30, Mr. Le Khac Hong - Head of the T3 Terminal Project Management Board - said that more than 2,500 engineers and workers along with hundreds of equipment and machines have been mobilized, working throughout the week to speed up the progress and complete the items according to plan.
Outside, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project, an important traffic route that directly connects Terminal T3 and reduces traffic pressure in the airport area, will also be completed before April 20. The project is about 4 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 4,800 billion, including the main road, overpass and underpass.
Currently, the 1.25km section from the underpass of Phan Thuc Duyen Street to Hoang Hoa Tham Street has been completed and put into operation. In addition, the four-lane overpass in front of terminal T3 has been completed, ready to connect to the terminal. At the same time, Hoang Hoa Tham Street (783m long, with an investment capital of 403 billion VND) will also be open to traffic before April 30.
An Phu intersection underpass is about to open to traffic
In the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City, the An Phu intersection project (Thu Duc City) with a total capital of more than VND 3,400 billion is entering the final stage.
According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, after more than 2 years of construction, the project has reached about 65% of the progress. Of which, the HC1 underpass branch (from Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to Mai Chi Tho Avenue) has reached 80% of the volume. The remaining important items such as pumping stations and closed tunnels are being urgently deployed to ensure traffic opening before April 30. It is expected that the entire An Phu intersection project will be completed by the end of 2025.
Another important project is the expansion of Duong Quang Ham Street (Go Vap District), expected to open to traffic on April 30. Recently, construction has encountered obstacles due to land clearance and electric poles. However, according to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, the electric poles along the route will be relocated and undergrounded before the end of March. When the site is clear, the construction unit will speed up the progress to complete the project in time.
In the southern area of Ho Chi Minh City, the parallel road of National Highway 50 (Binh Chanh District) is being accelerated to open to traffic on April 30. Previously, the project encountered difficulties in site clearance, causing delays in progress. This is a item of the National Highway 50 expansion project with a total investment of more than 1,500 billion VND. Currently, the parallel section has been basically completed, while the existing National Highway 50 expansion has reached about 30%. It is expected that the entire route will be completed by the end of 2025.
