The Command (BTL) of Region 4 of the Coast Guard recently collaborated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bạc Liêu Province to organize the dissemination and popularization of laws on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU).
Over the past time, the Command has strengthened the dissemination and popularization of laws, raised awareness among fishing vessel owners, captains, fishermen, port managers, facility owners, businesses, and fishing vessels... about the regulations in combating IUU fishing, which is one of the direct, regular, and responsible actions of the Command in Region 4 in working together with all levels, sectors, functional forces, and the entire political system to remove the "yellow card" warning from the European Commission (EC) for the Vietnamese seafood industry.
In Phường Nhà Mát, TP Bạc Liêu; Thị trấn Gành Hào, Đông Hải District; and Vĩnh Thịnh Commune, Hòa Bình District, the report officers and disseminators of the Command of Region 4 of the Coast Guard informed more than 350 delegates attending the conference about the basic contents of the 2017 Vietnamese Fisheries Law, the 2018 Vietnamese Coast Guard Law, and relevant legal documents on combating IUU fishing.
Specifically, such as: The Government's Decrees specifying some articles and measures for implementing the Fisheries Law, prescribing administrative penalties in the field of fisheries; and the Resolution of the Supreme People's Court on guiding the application of some provisions of the Criminal Code on holding individuals criminally liable for acts related to fishing, buying, and transporting seafood illegally.
Combining dissemination and popularization of laws, the Command of Region 4 of the Coast Guard presented 30 gift sets worth 1 million VND each to 30 families of fishermen in difficult circumstances, distributed 1,200 notebooks, flyers, and 60 photos of President Hồ Chí Minh, 30 first-aid kits, and 600 national flags to fishing vessels in the area.
