On the afternoon of September 12, a heavy rain lasting more than 30 minutes interrupted the work of workers constructing Dai Ngai 2 Bridge, part of the Dai Ngai Bridge project connecting Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Commander of Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, a member of the joint venture contractor for the Dai Ngai Bridge Project - regularly reminds workers to check the cables and steel piles where the barges are moored because the construction takes place on the river, so all machinery and equipment are placed on the barges.
“The bridge construction site is near the river mouth, so the water flows rapidly and the wind is strong. Ensuring labor safety and traffic safety on the river is more difficult than on road projects due to the ebb and flow of water. Especially during the rainy season, construction is also affected,” said Mr. Dung.
Mr. Dung said that in the past, the unit has always maintained 3 shifts and 4 teams. In addition, they have also made roofs for concrete items (cantilever), built camps right at the construction site so that when it rains, workers can take shelter without having to move to the inland area.
Mr. Tran Duc Hieu - construction engineer of Dai Ngai 2 bridge said: "We work with the spirit of overcoming the sun and rain. Only when the rain is too heavy and unsafe will we stop. When it is light rain and safe, everyone will wear raincoats and work as usual."
According to Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Transport) - the investor of Dai Ngai Bridge Project - currently, the construction contractors have mobilized 275 personnel, 97 machines and equipment of various types, and deployed 18 construction teams. The construction output value reached over 41%. Particularly, Dai Ngai 2 Bridge has a construction output of over 50%. It is expected that in November 2024, the girder installation will be carried out, the bridge will be assembled at the end of April 2025, and the entire bridge will be completed in 2025.
Similarly, at the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Component 4 Project through Soc Trang province, contractors also flexibly constructed during rainy and sunny times.
According to the Project Management Board of 2 Soc Trang provinces - the Investor of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Component 4 Project has so far achieved 5.02% of the contract value.
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Cuong - Project Executive Director, Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, Commander of Bridge No. 22 of Package No. 10 said - when entering the rainy season, construction work is difficult, affecting progress. Therefore, depending on the work, construction will be organized in 3 shifts, 4 shifts, including day, night and holidays.
"When heavy rain makes construction impossible, the contractor will flexibly arrange for workers to rest and will make up for the time after the rain to ensure the volume is completed according to plan," said Mr. Cuong.
