On June 16, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a document directing units in the area to strengthen legal propaganda and inspection and review of the situation of ownership and use of drones.

According to the report of Tho Xuan Airport and authorities, recently, many cases of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, flycams, drones) and folk kites have appeared in residential areas near airports, airports, and national defense and security facilities that have not been licensed to operate. These flight activities pose a potential risk to aviation safety and affect security and order in the area.
In the face of the above situation, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct competent agencies to strengthen propaganda, education, raise awareness of people about complying with legal regulations related to the ownership, licensing of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, areas permitted for flight and the responsibility to ensure safety during use.
Absolutely do not arbitrarily own or use unmanned aerial vehicles that have not been inspected or licensed by competent authorities; do not operate or control unmanned aerial vehicles or release people's kites in airports, national defense and security areas and prohibited areas as prescribed.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to conduct a review and statistics on the situation of ownership and use of unmanned aerial vehicles by organizations and individuals in the area (including equipment businesses and service providers using aerial vehicles).
Resolutely handle acts of owning, storing, and using aircraft that are not in accordance with regulations. At the same time, mobilize people to actively participate in monitoring and denouncing acts of arbitrarily using drones and releasing folk kites in prohibited areas and areas requiring security - especially for strange, unknown-origin, or unusual flying devices.
Timely provide information and images (if any) to the authorities to serve the inspection, verification and handling work according to regulations.
The People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province also requested the 923 Air Force Regiment to continue to closely coordinate with the Provincial Military Command, Tho Xuan Aviation Port Authority, Tho Xuan Airport and related units to closely monitor the situation, promptly have a plan to handle situations arising from illegal drone intrusion, ensuring absolute safety for aviation operations.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on June 15, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (AIAVN) announced that it was implementing a series of urgent measures to ensure aviation safety after drones appeared to invade Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa) for two consecutive days, June 13 and 14, 2025.
According to the report of the Northern Airports Authority, these unidentified flying devices have seriously affected civil aviation operations and pose a potential threat to the airport airspace.
Faced with the complicated situation, the Vietnam Airports Authority immediately issued an urgent document requesting Tho Xuan Airport and the Runway Safety Team to urgently tighten coordination between the Air Traffic Control Station, the air security force, the military and related units to be ready to handle the situation as soon as a foreign object is discovered.
