On June 16, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa province) said that on the evening of June 15, unidentified flying objects continued to appear in the airport area. The incident forced two flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa of Vietjet Air to change direction, landing at Noi Bai airport (Hanoi) and Vinh airport (Nghe An).

In the face of complicated developments due to the continuous appearance of strange objects near the airport area, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has decided to temporarily suspend the operation of Tho Xuan airport from 6:00 p.m. on June 16 to 6:00 a.m. on June 17 to ensure absolute safety for flight operations.
Previously, on June 15, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (AIAV) announced that it was implementing a series of urgent measures to ensure aviation safety after a drone appeared and entered Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa) for two consecutive days, June 13 and 14, 2025.
According to the report of the Northern Airports Authority, these unidentified flying devices have seriously affected civil aviation operations and pose a potential threat to the airport airspace.
Faced with the complicated situation, the Vietnam Airports Authority immediately issued an urgent document requesting Tho Xuan Airport and the Runway Safety Team to urgently tighten coordination between the Air Traffic Control Station, the air security force, the military and related units to be ready to handle the situation as soon as a foreign object is discovered.
The Department also directed to increase propaganda on aviation safety laws in localities surrounding airports, and at the same time requested to organize assessments and develop response plans for situations that threaten flight safety during take-off and landing activities.
For the Northern Airports Authority, preside over the investigation and verification of the incursions on June 13 and 14, and coordinate with interdisciplinary patrols in residential areas adjacent to airports and strictly punish acts of threatening the airspace in accordance with the law.
The HKVN Department has sent a petition to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to direct functional forces to coordinate in searching for illegal drone users, strictly handling and increasing propaganda among the people about aviation safety regulations.
