Water supply companies in Ho Chi Minh City have announced adjustments to drainage and wastewater treatment service prices in 2025.
From today (January 1, 2025), the price of clean water in Ho Chi Minh City will remain the same as in 2024.
However, the price of drainage and wastewater treatment services in Ho Chi Minh City will increase from 25% (applied in 2024) to 30% of the water supply price (this price does not include VAT).
Along with that, the VAT rate calculated on the price of drainage and wastewater treatment services from January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025 is 8% (according to Resolution No. 174/2024/QH15 dated of the National Assembly) and from July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 is 10% according to regulations.
The adjustment of service prices and wastewater treatment in 2025 is based on the roadmap approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in Decision No. 17/2021/QD-UBND on June 1, 2021 on promulgating drainage and wastewater treatment service prices for the period 2022-2025 (in 2022, it will be 15% of clean water price, in 2023, it will increase to 20%, in 2024 it will be 25% and by 2025 it will be 30%).
Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO) will collect fees for drainage and wastewater treatment services through water bills, based on the monthly clean water consumption volume for agencies, organizations, and households that discharge domestic wastewater into the drainage system, receiving sources (receiving sources are water sources that flow regularly or periodically such as rivers, streams, canals, ponds, lakes, lagoons, seas, underground aquifers) that use clean water from SAWACO's centralized water supply system.
According to Decision No. 17/2021/QD-UBND dated June 1, 2021 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, 1% of the revenue from drainage and wastewater treatment service prices is retained to pay for collection service costs; fulfill tax obligations and other financial obligations (if any), the remaining amount is paid to the State budget for use for the purpose of investment, maintenance, development of the drainage system and other reasonable costs according to regulations.
