Regarding the series of cars brazenly driving into the road during prohibited hours; stopping and parking cars under the no-entry signs, Mr. Mai Minh Ngoan - Chief of Office of Traffic Safety Board of Can Tho City - said that right after the opening ceremony of the new school year, the Traffic Safety Board of the City established a team to survey and re-evaluate the situation of traffic disorder. Especially, for the cluster of schools such as: Ngo Quyen Primary School; Doan Thi Diem Secondary School; Chau Van Liem High School, ... and many other schools.
Through survey and assessment, the City Traffic Safety Committee determined that the situation of cars entering roads with prohibited hours and stopping and parking cars under prohibited signs is currently quite complicated, with a large number.
Chief of Office of Traffic Safety Board of the City informed that to overcome this problem, early next week the Traffic Safety Board of the City will coordinate with the Traffic Police Team of Ninh Kieu District and the Ward Police to regularly patrol, inspect and impose fines to help people participate in traffic more conveniently and safely.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters spent two afternoons (afternoons of September 9 and 10) following the Ninh Kieu District Traffic Police to inspect and fine many cases of driving cars on roads with prohibited hours in the area of An Cu Ward.
However, after 2 sessions, the number of violations did not decrease but increased (8 cases were fined on the afternoon of September 9; 9 cases were fined on the afternoon of September 10). For the violation of cars entering prohibited roads at certain times, the fine is from 2 to 3 million VND, along with the additional penalty of revoking the right to use a driver's license from 1 month to 3 months.
According to the Ninh Kieu District Traffic Police Team, in recent days, the force has continuously taken action to handle traffic violations, especially for cars entering roads during prohibited hours and parking under prohibited signs in areas near schools.
However, the situation of violations by car drivers is still complicated and shows no signs of abating. Therefore, the authorities will continue to strengthen inspection and handle violations in the coming time.
According to a survey of violators, most of them were parents who entered these roads to pick up and drop off their children at school. When fined by the traffic police, many people replied that they did not know that this was a prohibited road, so they entered; while these prohibition signs have been in place and applied for many years.
