Traffic safety loss
According to Lao Dong Newspaper, To Ngoc Van Street (Tay Ho District, Hanoi) has been severely damaged, with nearly 500m of the road seriously degraded, with many cracks, potholes, and subsidence. Meanwhile, the traffic volume here is very large, seriously affecting the circulation of vehicles, potentially causing traffic accidents.
Having lived in Tay Ho district for more than 20 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung always feels worried when traveling on To Ngoc Van street.
"This road has been degraded for about 2-3 years now but has not been repaired, making me feel scared and insecure every day when I go to work," Mr. Dung said indignantly.
Having witnessed many times the elderly, students, and even some tourists accidentally getting their clothes wet with water, Mr. Dung added: "Just a moment of carelessness can cause an accident to happen at any time. Therefore, every time you pass through here, you must be alert and have a steady hand on the wheel to avoid dangerous potholes. When it rains, these potholes will become places where water accumulates and give off a strong stench, making anyone who passes through feel sick, increasing the risk of accidents," Mr. Dung said, pointing to the degraded road area.
Also facing a similar situation, Mr. Phan Dinh Phung (Tay Ho, Hanoi) shared: "The area around To Ngoc Van street has many resorts, attracting many guests to stay. However, the degraded road causes difficulties for people when traveling. Traffic participants also compare this road to being as dilapidated as soy sauce."
"I hope the authorities will soon take specific measures to repair and maintain the road. This will help people traveling here feel secure," Mr. Phung suggested.
Expected to carry out maintenance and repairs in 2025
Talking to Lao Dong about this issue, Mr. Bui Tuan Duong - Director of Tay Ho District Project Management Board - said that To Ngoc Van Street (Tay Ho, Hanoi) has a total length of about 436m, the starting point intersects with Xuan Dieu Street, the ending point intersects with Lane 67 To Ngoc Van.
According to Mr. Duong, in response to this situation, the People's Committee of Tay Ho district has planned to upgrade and repair To Ngoc Van street with a total investment of over 195 billion VND, to synchronize technical infrastructure, drainage, trees, lighting system, and traffic organization.
Currently, To Ngoc Van street is undergoing land clearance. With a total expected land acquisition area of about 2,121.5m2 of land and 95 cases of land within the land clearance boundary.
"It is expected that by 2025, the road will be repaired and renovated to make it more convenient for people to travel and improve their lives," Mr. Duong added.
Tay Ho is a densely populated district with high traffic volume. Deteriorated road conditions can easily cause traffic jams and increase the risk of accidents, especially during rush hour.
To solve this situation, it is recommended that relevant agencies and units promptly come up with plans to renovate and upgrade degraded roads to avoid affecting people's traffic.
