On March 19, the Office of Hanoi People's Committee issued Document No. 137/TB -VP announcing the conclusions of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Sy Thanh City on the implementation of the planning and investment projects to renovate the space in the eastern area of Hoan Kiem Lake and the design and renovation plan of Dong Kinh - Nghia Shu Square, Hoan Kiem District.
In this document, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh agreed on the progress of the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square Area Investment and Space Renovation Project. Accordingly, site clearance will be completed on April 30 and investment and construction of the above-ground part will be completed on September 2.
"Strive to complete the demolition of the Shark's Den building and clear the site before December 30," the document stated.
Although there are only 2 weeks left until the time to demolish the Shark Marker, according to the reporter's records on April 17, the business activities of restaurants and cafes inside this building are still bustling.
Outside, hundreds of people were still coming to check-in and taking souvenir photos with this building.
Regarding the work and time of demolition of the Shark Dock, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters contacted representatives of the Hoan Kiem Lake Management Board and Hanoi Old Quarter. However, he said that there is "no information" about the time of demolition of the Shark Den.
"When there is an official document from the city, we will inform you. Currently, we have no information" - said the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter.



Recently, a business has sent a document proposing to demolish the Shark Dock building at a cost of 0 VND and collect scrap after demolition.
This unit proposed to demolish the building but did not take money from the budget. In return, businesses are able to harness materials and construction waste from the demolition process to cover costs.
Immediately after receiving the proposal from the enterprise, the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee issued a document directing the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan to let the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee consider and handle it according to regulations.
Specific information about the proposal to demolish the Shark Dock building of the enterprise, a representative of the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee said that the previously estimated cost was about 14 billion VND. This cost is not only for demolition of the project but also includes special measures such as enclosing 6 floors to completely avoid environmental impacts during demolition and infrastructure restoration: road paving, sidewalk paving, etc.
Hoan Kiem District welcomes businesses interested in demolishing the Shark Marrow project. However, this is a city project, so the city's authority has now sent a document to the Department of Finance requesting guidance on the implementation of this content.
A representative of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District added that up to this point, 4 units have sent documents proposing to demolish the Shark Handling works at a cost of 0 VND and collect scrap after demolition.
However, according to regulations, the project to demolish the Shark Dock building will have to be widely bid to select a construction unit. Along with that, the handling of public assets after demolition must also be carried out in accordance with current legal regulations.
According to the H1-1B Urban Zoning Plan, at a scale of 1/2,000 approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2021, the land of Ham Thang Hoa building has the function of public land.
It is expected that after demolishing the Shark Dock building, the land will still use public functions. It is expected to arrange an entrance to the basement and the square stage.
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture said that the Shark Ham building, after being demolished, will help connect the old town, Hoan Kiem Lake and some adjacent streets such as Dinh Liet, Cau Go, creating a complete traffic space, this will be a traffic square, serving the people.
"After being decorated, combined with the surrounding space, Hanoi will have a square of 12,000m2, this is a rare space to serve the people and major events and festivals of the city as well as the country" - a representative of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture shared.
