New information on funding for breaking the Shark Dock, restoring infrastructure

KHÁNH AN |

Hanoi - The budget for demolishing the Shark Dock and returning infrastructure is expected to decrease from 18 billion VND to about 11 billion VND.

According to the original plan, the authorities will demolish the Shark Dock building, move the underground works (if any), and restore appropriate infrastructure in sync with the landscape of the area. The total investment of the project is about 18 billion VND from the city budget.

However, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District said that at a recent meeting, the parties agreed that the project of moving the transformer station with a relatively large cost would be handled and paid by Hoan Kiem Electricity. Therefore, the total cost of the project is reduced to about 10-11 billion VND.

It is expected that the demolition of this building will be completed before April 30.

According to the H1-1B Urban Zoning Plan, at a scale of 1/2,000 approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2021, the land of Ham Thang Hoa building has the function of public land.

It is expected that after demolishing the Shark Dock building, the land will still use public functions. It is expected to arrange an entrance to the basement and the square stage.

A representative of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture said that the Shark Ham building, after being demolished, will help connect the old town, Hoan Kiem Lake and some adjacent streets such as Dinh Liet, Cau Go, creating a complete traffic space, this will be a traffic square, serving the people.

"After being decorated, combined with the surrounding space, Hanoi will have a square of 12,000m2, this is a rare space to serve the people and major events and festivals of the city as well as the country" - a representative of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture shared.
