Ready to respond to information
Regarding the preparedness for response, on September 6, Viettel completed the deployment of more than 6,500 personnel at station locations in each district in 14 northern provinces to be ready to handle incidents caused by the storm. Viettel has mobilized an additional 117 information response teams to the provinces expected to be directly affected by storm Yagi, namely Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and will continue to add 300 teams in the coming days.
Regarding ensuring operational power resources, Viettel has ensured more than 2,200 generators in 4 provinces at risk of being directly affected (Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh) and more than 3,600 generators in 10 provinces at risk of being affected by storm circulation.
All locations at risk of flooding and isolation have been prepared in terms of personnel, mechanical and electrical resources, and fuel to handle incidents when needed.
Regarding materials, Viettel has ensured that spare fiber optic cables and sleeves are kept in district and provincial/city warehouses ready for use when needed. Welding machines and measuring machines have been ensured for 14 provinces, each cluster/district has at least 01 set of measuring/transmission welding machines (with 205 measuring sets, 197 transmission welding machines) and 203 welding machines for fixed broadband. Viettel also has satellite phones ready in affected provinces to communicate and handle situations during the storm. The disaster prevention software has been updated with databases and response plans according to storm scenarios.
Strengthening infrastructure and transmission network
Since the beginning of 2024, Viettel has implemented a program to strengthen natural disaster prevention, including tightening cable locks, reinforcing station houses, upgrading equipment for stations at risk of flooding, reinforcing poles and cable lines, maintaining microwave lines, protecting inter-provincial transmission cables and ensuring districts have solid cable directions.
Regarding the response plan for the transmission network, Viettel ensures 51 backup links are ready to respond in case of emergency, adding a backbone connecting the Northeast and Northwest 2 networks from Lang Son to Cao Bang, to route inter-regional traffic when provincial isolation occurs.
Viettel assigned personnel to be on duty at 18 key national axis points, 49 inter-provincial axis points, 268 inter-district axis points, ensuring spare cable tools and materials.
Customer care and support
Viettel sent text messages to notify storm situations and advise customers in 14 provinces (BGG, CBG, HBH, HGG, HPG, HTH, LSN, NAN, NBH, NDH, QBH, QNH, TBH, THA).
Viettel transfers information rescue equipment to ensure customer service: Ensure 34,500 warranty/rescue devices. Of which: Modem/ONT: 7,021 units, Home WIFI: 7,925 units; Television 17,893 (Settop box 2C: 2,639 units, Android TV: 15,254 units), Home Camera: 1,333 units, Vtracking: 142 units.
From September 5, Viettel has added customer service staff to answer and respond to situations requiring support in affected provinces. In case fixed broadband customers have errors that have not been resolved in time, Viettel will give 14G of temporary rescue data. Viettel uses a call bot to notify customers when the information interruption is resolved, ensuring that customers have information to use the service.
