New opportunities to develop coastal economic axes
Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi said that after the merger, Vinh Long has many more advantages when implementing the coastal road.
This is a key project connecting provinces in the region, connecting traffic from Dong Thap to Vinh Long, including Dinh An Economic Zone and Dinh An Seaport.
The route not only opens up space for economic, tourism and trade development, but also strengthens national defense - security and protects the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
According to the People's Committee of Vinh Long province, the entire coastal road in the area has a total length of 112.7km, connecting through many major rivers such as Cua Dai, Ba Lai, Ham Luong, Co Chien and continuing with Dai Ngai bridge on National Highway 60.

Before the merger, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces had launched many important projects: Cua Dai bridge (VND4,565 billion), Ba Lai bridge (VND2,255 billion), coastal route connecting three provinces (VND7,905 billion), Co Chien bridge (VND3,500 billion) and coastal corridor Tra Vinh (VND9,187 billion).
Currently, many projects have selected contractors and started construction on some packages, but there are still difficulties in material sources and site clearance.
Mr. Ngoi emphasized that the merger of provinces facilitates synchronous planning, avoiding overlapping projects, while making the most of financial resources, land funds and materials on site. This is an opportunity for Vinh Long to break through, forming a sustainable coastal economic development axis.
Complete the entire route before 2030 is a key goal
Implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch 131, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lu Quang Ngoi province directed departments, branches and the Traffic Project Management Board to speed up the progress, considering this an important political task in the period of 2025 - 2030.
The Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee requested to include the goal of completing the coastal road in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the new term, to serve as a basis for leadership, direction and resource mobilization.

Accordingly, the Department of Finance coordinated with the Department of Construction and the Project Management Board to review regulations, advise the Provincial People's Committee to prioritize capital allocation in the 2026 - 2030 medium-term public investment plan, and mobilize other legal capital sources.
The Traffic Project Management Board needs to urgently speed up investment preparation, especially ODA projects, to ensure the conditions for implementing construction on schedule.
"Completing the coastal road before 2030 is a key goal, creating new development momentum, enhancing competitiveness and promoting sustainable development of Vinh Long", Mr. Ngoi emphasized this content.
