Accelerating advantage exploitation, breaking through actual capacity
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long province said that after the merger, the province has a favorable coastal location, which is the gateway connecting the Southwest coast and the East Sea. This is an ideal condition for developing renewable energy, especially offshore wind power and large-scale solar power.
According to Mr. Tuan, Vinh Long has approved 53 wind power projects with a total capacity of 4,209MW, 5 concentrated solar power systems of 339MW, 3 45MW PV plants and 3 waste-to-energy plants of more than 30MW.
The province has put into operation 13 wind power plants (572MW), 2 solar power projects (189MW) and more than 4,400 rooftop solar power systems (163.8MW).

Mr. Tuan informed that in addition to existing projects, the province is coordinating to support investors in implementing 14 transitional wind power projects with a total capacity of about 1,100MW. In addition, there are 8 365MW projects calling for help and 18 2,142MW projects are under pre-feasibility study.
These projects will help increase the share of renewable electricity from the current 17% to about 31% by 2026, Mr. Tuan emphasized.
He said that this is an important step forward to form an auxiliary industrial ecosystem, energy logistics and create high-tech jobs, contributing to the goal of "net zero" by 2050.
Towards a sustainable green economy
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that to promote the potential of clean energy, the locality will coordinate with departments and branches to remove difficulties for projects that have investors and are being implemented.
At the same time, the province has prepared interest requests to select experienced and capable investors as a driving force for other projects.
According to Mr. Tuan, the province is submitting to the Government to complete the Provincial Planning synchronously with sectoral planning such as marine space, power transmission grid, industrial zones and clusters.

This will create conditions for renewable power projects, especially offshore wind power, to be implemented quickly and effectively, he said.
Mr. Tuan added that Vinh Long is coordinating with the Southern Power Corporation and the investor to build a power transmission grid project to improve the stability of power supply. This is also an important solution to unblock the capacity of renewable energy power sources.
According to the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, many projects are still stuck in connection to the power grid, electricity purchase prices, environmental procedures and clean land allocation.
The province will propose to the Central Government to pilot key coastal renewable energy areas with outstanding incentives, streamlining the connection process and sharing risks for investors, Mr. Tuan emphasized.
