On August 22, Mr. Chau Van Hoa - Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to reports on the progress of landslide recovery and review the handover and management of irrigation works.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, from the beginning of 2026 to now, the whole province has recorded 160 landslide and subsidence points with a total length of about 11,179m, affecting 264 households, causing damage of nearly 18 billion VND.
Faced with the above situation, the province has deployed to overcome 88 key landslide locations and works with a total length of more than 12,174m, with funding of over 147 billion VND from the budget reserve and the Disaster Prevention and Control Fund.
By mid-August, 32 projects were completed and put into use; 29 projects are under construction, reaching a volume of 10-80%; 22 projects have completed procedures. 4/6 dangerous landslide areas have been handled.

Regarding irrigation infrastructure, by August 22, the Provincial Agricultural Project Management Board handed over 34/37 system of works, original price of about 3,629 billion VND, to Tra Vinh Irrigation Works Exploitation Management Co., Ltd. for operation.
At the meeting, departments and sectors reported on the progress of handover, management, and operation of irrigation works; and at the same time raised difficulties and obstacles and proposed solutions for handling in the coming time.
Speaking to direct, Mr. Chau Van Hoa requested units to urgently review and synchronously deploy solutions, accelerate landslide recovery, ensure project quality; and at the same time complete dossiers, procedures, organize construction and acceptance in accordance with regulations.
Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee requested to assess the post-investment efficiency of works from the Disaster Prevention and Control Fund and budget reserves; accelerate disbursement, improve the efficiency of irrigation operation, proactively respond to drought and saltwater intrusion, ensure production and domestic water, reservoir safety and water storage works, and promote key irrigation projects.
