Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) has just officially signed a contract to design the VNVC Vaccine and Biological Products Factory with Rieckermann Group (Germany) - the world's leading designer in the field of vaccine and pharmaceutical factories.
Rieckermann is a globally reputable corporation with over 130 years of experience in the field of designing pharmaceutical, vaccine and biological manufacturing plants worldwide. Rieckermann has designed many vaccine and pharmaceutical manufacturing plants for the world's leading corporations such as GSK, MSD, Roche... according to the high standards of GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing plants of EU, FDA, PIC/S, WHO.
To meet the high requirements from VNVC, Rieckermann has optimally utilized an area of over 26,000 m2 to design a modern complex factory including vaccine and biological product production areas, animal breeding and research buildings; and other utility areas. All fully meet high international standards.
In particular, the vaccine and biological products manufacturing plant area must meet the high GMP standards of the EU, FDA, PIC/S and WHO. The specialized building houses experimental animals to conduct pre-clinical and clinical trials for vaccines and biological products according to international standards GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and AAALAC (International Standards for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care). These are all high-end standards that ensure the very important legal and humane standards of this field.
In particular, the entire factory is designed according to LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) standards. This is a strict international standard for a comprehensive green construction project, protecting the environment, saving energy and moving towards zero net emissions (Net Zero) according to the modern trend of the world. This will be the first vaccine factory in Vietnam to ensure this standard, realizing the goal of reducing total greenhouse gas emissions to zero in Vietnam by 2050.
Thus, when put into operation, the VNVC factory will be the first vaccine factory in Vietnam to fully meet the highest international standards on technology and environment. The factory marks a new and important milestone in the sustainable development strategy for the Vietnamese vaccine industry, contributing to soon making Vietnam a vaccine-self-sufficient country to ensure health security and enhance the competitiveness of the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry internationally.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Jorge Domingo Guerra - Business Development Director of Rieckermann Group - said that this project not only demonstrates the outstanding development in improving Vietnam's biopharmaceutical infrastructure but also is a step forward in addressing global health challenges.
Mr. Jorge Domingo Guerra committed that Rieckermann will provide VNVC with an innovative, high-class design that fully meets international standards and criteria for safety, efficiency and long-term sustainability, ensuring continuous production of vaccines and important biological products using the world's leading modern technologies.

This partnership will not only build a facility but also lay the foundation for a healthier and more sustainable future,” said Jorge Domingo Guerra in his speech.
VNVC Vaccine and Biologicals Factory will be one of the first factories in Southeast Asia to invest heavily in modern production lines including vial, syringe and injection pen filling technology; especially the filling and packaging line for vials, syringes and injection pens using isolator technology. This is the world's modern sterile production technology, first introduced by VNVC in Vietnam, up to now.
It is expected that when put into operation, the VNVC factory will cooperate with the world's leading vaccine manufacturers, participating in each stage of the vaccine and biological product production process, and moving towards receiving technology transfer for independent production.
Previously, in October 2024, VNVC had initially agreed on a cooperation agreement, aiming at technology transfer, producing a number of vaccines of the world's leading pharmaceutical company Sanofi (France) at VNVC's factory such as flu vaccine, 6-in-1 vaccine, helping Vietnam proactively source high-quality vaccines for children and adults, not just depending on imported sources.
In addition to vaccine production, the VNVC factory complex also prepares modern infrastructure for scientific research and clinical trials of vaccines, creating favorable conditions to gather the world's leading experts at home and abroad to work.
Along with VNVC launching the vaccine and biological products factory, Tam Anh General Hospital System - a member of the same healthcare ecosystem as VNVC - plans to start construction of Tam Anh University at the end of this year, contributing to improving capacity in the fields of education, medical examination and treatment, preventive medicine, production of high-quality vaccines and biological products, proactively improving the overall quality of life for Vietnamese people.
