On February 12, Mr. Chau Van Hoa - Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Chung - Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial Labor Federation and the working delegation had a working session with Gia Dinh Shoe Company (Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province) on the content of salary and bonus payment for Tet 2025 causing misunderstanding leading to the collective work stoppage.
Previously, at 10:45 a.m. on January 25, at Gia Dinh Shoe Company Limited - Tra Vinh Branch (Hamlet 5, Tieu Can town, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province), there was a collective work stoppage by workers.
The reason is that the company has announced the salary advance and bonus payment to all workers. However, on the morning of January 25, the company announced that it would only pay bonuses, and that workers' salaries would be received after the Tet holiday.
Disagreeing with the refusal to advance January 2025 salary, workers made petitions to the authorities and stopped working.

At the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Chung - President of the Tra Vinh Provincial Labor Federation - said that the decision and communication of the management staff caused some difficulties for the workers, because on January 25 (ie 26th of Tet), the workers really needed money to manage their families.
In addition, the foreign managers showed an uncooperative attitude and refused to explain thoroughly, causing workers to be upset. This shows that the situation of labor use and management at this company still has many shortcomings.
Through research, there are cases where employees have been with the company for more than 1 year but still do not have a labor contract, which leads to many disadvantages for the employees.
At the meeting, representatives of relevant functional units also informed that Gia Dinh Shoe Company has been late in paying Social Insurance (SI) for January 2025; owes Union fees; only 107/441 people participate in the SI regime; the workers' meals are not up to the average level... leading to difficulty in attracting workers.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chau Van Hoa - Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee - said that employers need to improve their management style and respect employees. In particular, they need to learn from experience in communicating and treating employees in accordance with standards.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province assigned relevant units and functional departments to coordinate with the company to review transparent and clear policies for employees. Check how many employees have participated in social insurance, the reasons why they have not participated, thereby thoroughly resolving the problem, avoiding the recent collective work stoppage.
"Units need to check labor safety and hygiene, fire prevention and fighting, business registration, factories, etc. in a progressive and open-minded spirit, but still maintain a harmonious interest between employers and employees," Mr. Hoa emphasized.
