Immediately after the serious canoe capsizing in the An Thoi sea area (Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province) at noon on July 11, the work of mobilizing forces, racing against time to provide emergency care and health care for the victims who are Indian nationals has been deployed at the highest level.
Immediately upon receiving the news, Phu Quoc Sun Hospital immediately activated the "Royal Alert system throughout the hospital". URGENTly dispatching 2 ambulances and elite emergency teams to the scene, and mobilizing all medical personnel at the hospital to be on duty for rescue.
After nearly 2 hours of intensive resuscitation, the seriously ill patients brought to the hospital officially passed the critical condition and were transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for strict monitoring. Initially, the patient regained consciousness and vital signs were stable. By 6:15 pm on July 11, the hospital received 15 more victims who were awake to the hospital for examination, injury screening and intensive physical recovery.
Doctor Nguyen Quang Thang, Director of Phu Quoc Sun Hospital, said: "With these two severe cases, both have severe respiratory failure. One case recovered after 5 hours, can speak, and we will conduct further screening so that the patient can be discharged. With this respiratory failure case, it has been resolved well.
There is also a patient with very severe underlying diseases, respiratory failure and has been ventilated artificially. After screening, we discovered that the patient had underlying diabetes, myocardial infarction. And with such an emergency myocardial infarction, we have prepared to deploy coronary intervention. We are coordinating with Cho Ray Hospital, with experts from both sides coordinating to intervene on the machine and hope that the intervention will be successful," said Dr. Nguyen Quang Thang.
Currently, treatment and care for patients is the top priority, carried out with the highest urgency and humanity.
In addition to treatment, financial support and international diplomatic coordination are also being drastically and urgently implemented by local authorities under the direct direction of the Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee and leaders of Phu Quoc Special Zone.
Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee, said: Currently, support work continues to be carefully cared for. The vehicle owner with this incident will support each unfortunate victim with 1,000 USD. For other cases being treated and healthy, each person will receive 500 USD. The government will also support each unfortunate victim with 26 million VND, equivalent to about 1,000 USD.
Mr. Khoa also emphasized: "This coordination work requires the involvement of many sectors, especially local authorities and the Police. The Provincial Police have been urgent and have been present here early. Other tasks related to investigation, classification and civil status procedures are all carried out quickly and drastically, in the spirit of serving the maximum according to the requests of the victim's family and in accordance with Vietnamese law.
