After the canoe carrying Indian tourists capsized, on the evening of July 11, Coast Guard Region 4 Command used ships and boats on the ground to coordinate with the Border Guard to organize the return of the remaining 70 foreign tourists trapped at Hon May Rut Ngoai to Phu Quoc Island to ensure absolute safety.
In the afternoon of July 11, immediately after receiving a report about a canoe capsizing in the sea area near Hon May Rut Ngoai (Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province), Coast Guard Region 4 Command urgently deployed forces and vehicles to participate in search and rescue.
Accordingly, the Command of the Region mobilized Coast Guard ship 2002, which was performing a mission at sea, along with two Coast Guard boats 711 and 712 with 40 officers and soldiers, to urgently maneuver to the scene. The Deputy Chief of the Legal Affairs Command and the Deputy Chief of the Operations Staff directly commanded forces on the ground in coordination with the Border Guard, Navy and functional forces to organize the search and rescue of victims.

The Regional Command established a forward command headquarters at Naval Flotilla 422 in An Thoi, directly commanded and operated by the Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff, ensuring close coordination between forces. At the same time, the Deputy Political Commissar of the Region and the Task Force and ambulances were stationed at An Thoi International Port, ready to receive and take victims to hospitals on Phu Quoc Island.
Forces and people have brought all 36 people on the distressed canoe ashore; rescued 21 people, 15 victims died. Coast Guard Region 4 Command is continuing to direct the unit's forces to coordinate with functional forces to urgently overcome the consequences of the incident and update information according to regulations.
