At 7:45 a.m. on September 8, while maneuvering to pick up 11 people from Dam Don island handed over by Ship 984 (Navy ) , Ship 285 discovered and rescued 6 people: including 2 people on a pearl boat in Tung Sau lagoon area and promptly rescued 4 people from barge number HY 0496 that sank in the Ti Top island area.
Previously, at 2:00 p.m. on September 7, barge HY0496, controlled by Captain Tran Van Son, carrying more than 2,600 tons of cement to shelter from the storm at Ti Top Island (Quang Ninh) encountered an accident and sank, with 4 crew members on board.
At 9:30 p.m. the same day, the Navy directed the Command of Region 1 to dispatch Ship 984 and a boat about 3 nautical miles from the area of the ship in distress to rescue 4 crew members.
At 5:30 a.m. on September 8, the Navy received information that people were stranded at Dam Don Island (Quang Ninh). Immediately after that, the Navy directed Brigade 170, Region 1 to dispatch mobile boats to the area and rescued 11 people, bringing them to Ship 984 and transferring 11 victims to Ship 285, Region 1 to bring them back to shore.
Ship 285 brought 17 fishermen safely ashore and completed procedures to hand them over to the local authorities according to regulations. Region 1 conducted initial health checks, cared for the injured, and provided necessities for the 17 fishermen.
Currently, the fishermen's health is stable.
