In recent days, an article has appeared on Facebook about an old woman nearly 80 years old being assaulted by a bus assistant, and her phone broken when refusing to get on the bus.
The articles are accompanied by images of pushing and pushing and the old woman's knee having bruises, causing public outrage.
Through initial review, Viet Hung Ward Police quickly identified the location of the incident in the bus station area, outside Bai Chay bus station.
From the collected information, the police force invited relevant people to work, and at the same time extracted security camera systems around the area to serve the verification work.
According to initial verification, at about 8:30 am on January 3, 2026, Ms. Nguyen Thi D. (born in 1949, residing in Bai Chay ward) and her son Nguyen Hai N. (born in 1979) came to the bus stop outside Bai Chay bus station to wait for the bus to return to their hometown.
While waiting for the bus, a loud argument and push-ups occurred between Mr. N. and the assistant driver of the 16-seater passenger car. Mr. N. used Ms. D.'s phone to record a video of the incident. When Ms. D. intervened, he tripped and fell.
During the scuffle between the assistant driver and Mr. N., Ms. D.'s phone broke down and the screen was bent.
Viet Hung Ward Police also worked with Ms. Phan Thi Quynh Tr. (born in 2006), who posted content related to the incident on social networks.
According to verification, some articles on social networking sites were posted at the request of Mr. Nguyen Hai N.; another article was self-published by Ms. Tr. and removed the article on the morning of January 14, 2026.
The results of the security camera review showed that Ms. D. tripped and fell herself, with no signs of being pushed or assaulted. The camera recorded that Mr. N. and the assistant driver had a scuffle, after which the parties dissolved themselves.
Based on initial verification, Viet Hung Ward Police requested the poster to remove inaccurate content and post corrective information on social networks.
Currently, the case is continuing to be verified and clarified by functional agencies according to the provisions of law.
