On February 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said that it has coordinated with bus operating units to organize fare exemptions for passengers during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026. This is to encourage people to use modern and environmentally friendly public transport.
VinBus Ecological Transport Co., Ltd. will exempt bus tickets from February 17th to the end of February 19th, 2026 (ie from the 1st to the end of the 3rd day of Tet).
Currently, VinBus is operating 3 electric bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City, including: route D4 (Vinhomes Grand Park - Saigon Bus Station), route 33 (An Suong Bus Station - Suoi Tien - Ho Chi Minh City National University) and route 150 (Cho Lon Bus Station - New Mien Dong Bus Station).
Phuong Trang Passenger Car Joint Stock Company (FUTA Bus Lines) will exempt bus tickets from February 16 to February 18 (ie from the 29th of Tet to the end of the 2nd of Tet).
Phuong Trang is currently the largest bus network operator in Ho Chi Minh City with 78 routes, mainly using electric vehicles.
The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said that the whole city currently has about 179 bus routes, including subsidized and non-subsidized routes, with more than 2,300 vehicles.
During Tet, the bus network will be flexibly adjusted, increasing or reducing the number of trips to suit the actual needs of the people.

In addition to buses, Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will also be free of tickets for all passengers on 2 days, February 16 and 17 (ie, the 29th of Tet and the 1st of Tet).
Passengers can take the metro for free in 3 ways: Using ID cards or citizen ID cards with chips to scan at the ticket gate; using QR codes on the HCMC Metro HURC application with the function "QR Strengthen"; or receiving paper tickets with QR codes at automatic kiosks in the station.
In addition, Metro Line 1 will extend its operating hours until 11 pm every day from February 12th to February 22nd, 2026 (ie from December 25th of the year At Ty to the 6th day of Binh Ngo Tet).
Especially on the 1st day of Tet (February 17), to serve people watching fireworks in the center of Ho Chi Minh City returning home, Metro Line 1 will run 20 more train trips from 0:30 to 2:00, with a frequency of 6 minutes/trip.
Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line of Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 20 km long, connecting the city center with the eastern gateway.
Since officially put into operation on December 22, 2024, Metro Line 1 quickly attracted people to use, averaging more than 60,000 passengers per day and has served more than 21 million passengers to date.
