On February 21 (ie, the 5th day of Tet), Mr. Tran Ngoc Binh - Chairman of Phuoc Dinh Commune People's Committee - confirmed that a traffic accident had just occurred in the area on the coastal road through Phuoc Dinh commune, causing a 4-seater car to fall into a ravine more than 4m deep, and a woman was seriously injured.
According to initial information, at about 3 pm on February 20, a 4-seater car driven by a male driver, carrying a middle-aged couple, was traveling on DT701 along the coast in the direction from Ninh Thuan to Cam Ranh.
When arriving at the pass section in Phuoc Dinh commune (old Ninh Thuan area), the car suddenly collided with a motorbike parked on the side of the road.
The collision caused both vehicles to turn many times and then fall into a ravine more than 4m deep. At the scene, both cars and motorbikes were deformed and heavily damaged.
Mr. Nghia Pham - who participated in rescue support at the scene - said that after the accident, the male driver and his husband could open the door themselves and climb upstairs to call for help.
As for the seriously injured wife, trapped in the car, she had to be helped by rescue forces to break the door, take her out and transfer to the hospital for emergency treatment.
According to initial assessments by people at the scene, this pass section has a fairly smooth road surface.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
