On February 5, Mr. Hoang Minh Giam - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Ana district informed that the People's Committee of the district has requested the police force to urgently clarify the incident that occurred within the framework of the traditional men's boat racing tournament of Krong Ana district in 2025.
Previously, on February 4, Krong Ana district organized the traditional men's boat race in 2025. In the semi-finals and finals, a boat team protested and did not accept the referee's decision.
The boat team blocked the middle of the river to prevent the race. This action caused the race to be suspended for more than 2 hours. The police force intervened and brought the response boat to shore so the race could continue.
Not stopping there, when the champion team reached the finish line. The reaction boat team approached, and a scuffle broke out between the two teams.
On the shore, some overzealous fans reacted, provoked, and even threw rocks at the opposing boat, creating chaos.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Ana district, the district police are compiling and extracting all images to clarify the incident. In addition, the organizing committee has banned all boats that violate the regulations from participating in the tournament for the next 2 years.
"The organizing committee and district police will base on the level of violation of the boat team to handle it strictly. Thereby, avoiding affecting the image and reputation of the traditional race that has been painstakingly built over many years," added Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Ana District, Hoang Minh Giam.
The traditional men's boat race in Krong Ana district has been held since 1994 (31 years). The race is held at the beginning of the new year. The event attracts many local people as well as tourists from inside and outside the province to watch and cheer.
