According to the Quang Tri Border Guard, the captains who were fined include: Mr. Le Van Pho (ship BV-92476-TS), Mr. Bui Vinh Quang (ship BV-92475-TS), Mr. Mai Van (ship BV-92997-TS) and Mr. Pham Van Tuan (ship BV-90454-TS). Violations were identified as: disabling the journey monitoring device; the captain and chief engineer did not have a certificate; did not comply with the inspection and control of the authorities; transported oil without documents proving its legal origin.
The Commander of the Quang Tri Border Guard issued a decision to fine a total of VND 876.75 million and confiscate 4,594 liters of DO oil.
Quang Tri Border Guard affirmed that strictly handling violations demonstrates determination in the management and protection of sovereignty and security of maritime borders, while contributing to deterring and raising fishermen's awareness of law compliance, building a safe and sustainable fishing environment.
The unit also emphasized that, along with strict sanctions, this is also a strong message of Vietnam's commitment to preventing and repelling illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, in order to contribute to removing the "yellow card" of the European Commission.
Quang Tri Border Guard calls on fishermen to raise their awareness of complying with the law, strictly comply with exploitation regulations to protect seafood resources, maintain the image of a responsible country, and jointly build a sustainable Vietnamese fishing industry and integrate internationally.
