143 speeding cars were fined by Vinh Phuc Traffic Police

Through the surveillance camera system, Vinh Phuc Traffic Police have fined many vehicles for traffic violations.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper on January 16, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Thinh - Deputy Head of Vinh Phuc Traffic Police Department said that the whole province has installed a system of more than 200 surveillance cameras to detect and handle traffic violations.

“From November 15, 2024 alone, the authorities have detected and fined hundreds of traffic violations. Of these, 143 cars were fined more than VND236 million for speeding,” said the Deputy Head of the Vinh Phuc Traffic Police Department.

According to regulations before January 1, 2025, a fine of VND 800,000 to VND 1,000,000 will be imposed on drivers who exceed the speed limit by 5 km/h to less than 10 km/h (Point a, Clause 3, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

A fine of VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000 shall be imposed on drivers exceeding the prescribed speed limit by 10 km/h to 20 km/h (Point i, Clause 5, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, amended at Point d, Clause 34, Article 2, Decree 123/2021/ND-CP).

Drivers who commit violations will also have their driving licenses revoked for 01 to 03 months (Point b Clause 11 Article 5 Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

Fine from 6,000,000 VND to 8,000,000 VND for drivers exceeding the prescribed speed by more than 20 km/h to 35 km/h (Point a, Clause 6, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

Drivers who commit violations will also have their driving licenses revoked for 2 to 4 months (Point c, Clause 11, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

Fine from 10,000,000 VND to 12,000,000 VND for drivers driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit by more than 35 km/h (Point c Clause 7 Article 5 Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

Drivers who commit violations will also have their driving licenses revoked for 2 to 4 months (Point c, Clause 11, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

People should note that the fine for speeding will increase from January 1, 2025 according to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.

Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP stipulates the fine for speeding cars in 2025 as follows: Fine for speeding cars from 05 km/h to under 10 km/h: Fine from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND.

Penalty for driving a car 10 km/h to 20 km/h above the speed limit: Fine from 4,000,000 VND to 6,000,000 VND; at the same time, the violator will have 2 driving license points deducted.

Penalty for driving a car at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit from 20 km/h to 35 km/h: Fine from 6,000,000 VND to 8,000,000 VND; at the same time, the violator will have 4 driving license points deducted.

Penalty for driving a car over the speed limit of 35 km/h: Fine from 12,000,000 VND to 14,000,000 VND; at the same time, the violator will have 6 points deducted from the driver's license.

In addition, in case a driver drives at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit and causes a traffic accident, he/she will be fined from 20,000,000 VND to 22,000,000 VND and have 10 points deducted from his/her driving license.

People should note that when coming to pay fines, they need to prepare the following documents:

For cars: Vehicle registration, Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection inspection, Driving license of the violator, Citizen identification card of the violator (photocopy 1 copy of each type of document).
