Oil change is one of the maintenance items with low cost but plays an important role in the lifespan of car engines.
However, many car owners are still hesitant about choosing the right type of oil or finding a reputable oil replacement address after the car's warranty period expires.
According to Mr. Thai Binh Quoc Vu, owner of Anh Chu Xuong garage - Ninety-eight Auto, most car owners today still depend on the company's recommendations during the warranty period. When the car is out of warranty, many people lack basic knowledge about how to care for the engine as well as choosing suitable engine oil.
This makes many vehicles, even though the engine details are designed with a lifespan of up to tens of years, still quickly degrade. According to Mr. Vu, the reason is that car owners have not really paid due attention to maintenance, causing the engine to fall into a state of "fast aging", or technically speaking, the oxidation and degradation process takes place earlier than usual.
Mr. Vu said that lubricant has the task of lubricating a series of details inside the engine. Whether the car uses belts, gears, chains or other powertrains, full lubrication is always a decisive factor in helping the engine operate stably.
When using the correct type of engine oil, mechanical details reduce friction, operate more smoothly, thereby reducing the amount of energy needed for the engine to operate. This not only helps the car operate smoothly but also contributes to fuel saving.
Conversely, if the lubricant does not meet the requirements or is of poor quality, friction between parts increases, causing the engine to work heavier and consume more fuel. In the long run, the internal parts will also wear out quickly, affecting the engine's lifespan.
According to Mr. Vu, a difficulty today is that the market has many lubricant brands with many different types, making users easily fall into a "confused" situation when choosing. Many people choose the right brand or appropriate lubricant indices but buy fake or unknown origin products.
Currently, used oil is sold very commonly, but fake goods also appear quite a lot. If you accidentally use non-genuine products, car owners may misjudge the quality of the brand, while the actual cause comes from buying poor quality goods," Mr. Vu shared.
In particular, the continuous change of lubricant types because they believe that the product is not good will cause the engine to be exposed to many types of substandard oil for a long time, thereby accelerating the degradation process.
To limit risks, Mr. Vu recommends that car owners should choose reputable garages with genuine product displays and clear origins. According to him, long-term business establishments often do not trade off their reputation just for profit from using poor quality engine oil.
