According to images and data released by the traffic police of Bac Ninh province, the car owner, although driving on the green light, was still fined remotely.
Accordingly, this car owner was not fined for traffic light errors but was fined for not complying with the directions of the road markings.
Regarding this violation, Bac Ninh Traffic Police said that from April 25, 2026 to May 1, 2026, traffic police will fine vehicle owners for not complying with road markings as follows:

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that many drivers were surprised when receiving traffic light tickets despite going straight at the green light.

Accordingly, the image of a car being "captured" by an AI camera system when traveling through an intersection has attracted great attention from the driver community. Notably, at that time the traffic light was still in green, but a remote fine notice was still sent to the car owner.
The truth behind this situation actually comes from a detail that many people often overlook when driving.
In fact, the fault that the car committed is not related to the traffic lights but lies in the failure to comply with the traffic lights.
A location with similar characteristics that drivers in Hanoi need to pay special attention to is the Xuan Thuy - Pham Hung intersection, in the direction from Ho Tung Mau to Xuan Thuy. Here, the vehicle density is always very high, the lane near the median strip is usually only for left turn or U-turn vehicles.
Many people, wanting to escape quickly through the traffic jam or being obscured by large vehicles in front, accidentally went straight from the left turn lane. In this area, just a little lack of observation can cause drivers to be immediately fined.
According to regulations from January 1, 2025, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP officially takes effect, replacing Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, stipulating penalties for non-compliance with road markings for vehicles. Specific penalties are applied as follows:
