This year for the first time, the World Wrestling Federation awarded Vietnam the right to host the 2026 World Beach Wrestling Championship. The matches will take place in Da Nang city on May 9th and May 10th.
May 8th is the time when the teams register official lists and hold technical meetings before the match.
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese wrestling team will have 21 athletes participating in this tournament. In the list, many players who have won gold medals at SEA Games 33 are sent by the coaching staff to compete in Da Nang such as Do Ngoc Linh, Nguyen Thi My Trang, Nguyen Thi My Hanh.
In the Vietnamese wrestling team participating in the 2026 World Beach Games, there are athletes such as Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Doan Thi Kim Oanh, Dang Thi Linh who just competed at the 2026 Asian Beach Games in China recently.
The goal of the Vietnamese wrestling team at this world tournament at home is to strive to achieve the highest results.
The World Wrestling Federation announced 8 events at the tournament including 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and over 90kg (men); 50kg, 60kg, 70kg and over 70kg (women).
Beach wrestling is a sport that is appearing in many official international sports festival programs. This year, the 2026 Youth Olympics in Senegal also hosts beach wrestling. Currently, the Vietnamese wrestling team has won 3 slots to participate in this sport at the 2026 Youth Olympics.
