The highlight of the car lies in the multi-spoke rims with the spokes painted black in contrast with the yellow rims, creating a different appearance compared to many 718 Boxster models that have appeared in Vietnam. Yellow details are also added in some exterior positions, helping the Porsche convertible sports car become more prominent.
Porsche 718 Boxster belongs to the 982 generation, the internal name for the new Boxster and Cayman lines of the German automaker. The model was first introduced in January 2016 before being launched to the public at the Geneva Motor Show 2016. Meanwhile, the 718 Cayman version was launched a few months later at the Beijing Motor Show.
Porsche's use of the name "718" is to evoke the legendary racing car 718 that won the Targa Florio in 1959 and 1960. This is also one of Porsche's most successful sports cars in racing history with its lightweight philosophy and flexible handling.
Unlike its predecessor, the 718 line is equipped with a new 4-cylinder turbocharged boxer engine. The standard 718 Boxster version uses a 2.0L turbocharged engine, producing 247 horsepower and 310 Nm of maximum torque. The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 260 km/h.
In addition to improving operating performance, the new engine also helps optimize fuel consumption compared to previous generations. The electrically opened and closed fabric roof design continues to be one of the characteristics of the Boxster, bringing a different convertible sports driving experience compared to its brother Cayman using coupe configuration.
In the context of Porsche gradually electrifying its product portfolio and preparing to introduce the pure electric 718 generation in the future, 718 Boxsters using internal combustion engines are increasingly receiving attention from sports car enthusiasts. The appearance of the car with a personal color scheme in Ho Chi Minh City continues to attract the attention of the domestic car-loving community.
