Recently, a group of sports cars and luxury coupes appeared on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, attracting attention with the presence of two Porsche 911s and a BMW 840i Coupe model considered unique in the Vietnamese market.
Notably, the BMW 840i Coupe parked behind the Porsche 911 duo quickly became the focus thanks to its rare quantity. This model was brought to Vietnam through a private import unit from 2021 and has not appeared much on the streets to date.
The BMW 8-Series Coupe was introduced globally from 2018, positioned in the large luxury coupe segment. The model competes with luxury, high-performance coupes in the international market, but is not officially distributed in Vietnam.
The BMW 840i Coupe appearing in Ho Chi Minh City has a striking Barcelona Blue Metallic paint color, combined with 5-spoke double 20-inch alloy wheels. The car is equipped with the M Sport exterior package with a sportier front and rear bumper design, accompanied by a high-performance braking system.
Compared to the BMW 7-Series sedan line, the design of the 8-Series Coupe has a clear sporty style with a low roof, long body and sharp LED headlights. Notably, this coupe model still uses the traditional grille style instead of the large design that appears on many new generation BMW lines.
The 840i Coupe version in Vietnam is also equipped with a laser headlight system and some body details using carbon fiber material to optimize weight. However, this car does not have a Carbon Package option with expanded carbon details on the exterior.
The interior of the BMW 840i Coupe stands out with a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel behind the steering wheel, a 12.3-inch central entertainment screen, wireless charging and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond sound system.
In terms of performance, the BMW 840i Coupe uses a 3.0L 6-cylinder in-line turbocharged engine, producing a maximum power of 335 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The car combines an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Besides the rare BMW model, two Porsche 911s with red-orange and gray exteriors also attracted attention. One of them was upgraded with a sporty rear spoiler.
The Porsche 911 992 generation uses a 6-cylinder 3.0L twin-turbo boxer engine. In the standard Carrera version, the car has a capacity of about 385 horsepower, while the Carrera S version is up to 455 horsepower.
