Repairing a car that stalled in deep water up to 100,000 VND/vehicle

Hanoi - Employees of many car repair shops in the inner city have to work at full capacity because the number of flooded cars coming for repair is too much.

The heavy rain on the morning of August 26 due to the impact of storm No. 5 Kajiki caused many streets in Hanoi to be deeply flooded. Many motorbikes and motorbikes in circulation have become "victims", stalled in the water.

According to records on Dong Me Street (Tu Liem Ward), in the morning alone, dozens of vehicles stalled. Many people could only push their vehicles through flooded areas and then take their vehicles for repair. Others turned around and chose another route to travel.

At a motorbike repair shop on Dong Me Street, the store employee had to work at full capacity because the number of flooded vehicles for repair was too much.

Sitting next to an Air Blade that had to be completely unplugged and washed every part, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang said: "This morning, passing through Dong Me Street, the motorbike stalled due to being flooded more than half way. There is no other way to take a 400m set of vehicles to the auto repair shop. The waiting time for the car to be repaired is more than 1 hour, so I asked the company to take unpaid leave due to force majeure incidents".

Mr. Le Nam, an employee of a motorbike repair shop on Dong Me, said that since early this morning, the shop has received repair of dozens of motorbikes damaged by flooding.

"There are many damaged vehicles due to flooding, but there are only 3 workers, so many people have to accept waiting for their turn. As of noon, there are still many flooded vehicles waiting for repair" - Mr. Nam shared.

According to Mr. Nam, for digital cars, the problem of water shortage is quite quickly resolved if after the engine stops working, customers do not try to restart it by any means.

The vehicle will be inclined back to remove all the water from the exhaust pipe, dry the bugi or replace it with a new one. With the stage of being able to detonate the engine without having to replace components, the price is about 30,000 VND/vehicle. For vehicles that are required to replace bugies, the total cost is 70,000 VND.

In cases where the vehicle is flooded too deep, water enters the air purifier, the worker must also remove the air purifier to clean or replace it if necessary.

For scooter models with air filters located in the middle and under the trunk, forcing manufacturers to remove all trunks and remove air filters for cleaning. The cost of repairing these vehicles is higher, usually from 70,000 VND to 100,000 VND, if you don't have to replace the air filter or motorbike taxi.

At a parking lot on Do Duc Duc Street, Mr. Binh, the shop owner, said he had fixed nearly 30 motorbikes that had stalled, mainly due to being in the water all this morning.

Sharing about his experience in handling vehicles when entering flooded roads, Mr. Binh said that if you have to go through flooded roads, observe and choose the highest part to move, usually in the middle of the road. Avoid going close to the roadside because this area is often flooded deeper, and there is potential danger from manholes or drainage ditches.

If riding a manual transmission motorbike, you should leave a low number (No. 1 or No. 2) to slowly get through the flooded section. As for scooters, try to keep the throttle level and can use additional brakes to avoid sudden increase or decrease the throttle.

When seeing that their vehicles could not pass, people should get off the vehicles, turn off the engine and push their vehicles through deep water. If it goes wrong, the car may stall and will need a lot of time and money to fix it.

Mr. Binh recommends that even though people are not familiar with motorbikes, they still need to be certain to be alert to avoid being "ripped off" or getting sick, leading to unnecessary costs.
