Mr. Phan Van Do - owner of a car showroom on Pham Van Dong street (Hanoi) - said that the number of customers coming to learn about electric vehicles in recent months has remained stable.
According to Mr. Do, many customers are interested in usage costs, fuel costs and support programs when buying electric vehicles.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Son, a salesman at a car dealership in Cau Giay ward, said that customers are not only asking about gasoline cars but also paying more attention to electric car models.
Factors that buyers pay attention to include operating range, charging system and operating costs.

According to the May 2026 sales report of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), total market sales reached 29,935 vehicles, down 6% compared to April 2026 but up 6% compared to the same period last year.
In which, passenger cars reached 19,182 vehicles, down 10% compared to the previous month. The commercial vehicle segment reached 10,288 vehicles, up 5%, and specialized vehicles reached 465 vehicles.
Regarding the origin of products, domestically assembled car sales reached 13,080 vehicles, down 6% compared to the previous month. Completely built-up imported cars reached 16,855 vehicles.
Notably, hybrid vehicles continue to record high growth. Accumulated in the first 5 months of the year, sales of this car line reached 8,518 vehicles, an increase of 80% compared to the same period in 2025.
In the VAMA member brand group, Toyota led sales in May with 5,653 vehicles sold, followed by Ford with 3,493 vehicles, Mitsubishi reached 3,111 vehicles, Kia reached 2,512 vehicles and Mazda reached 2,304 vehicles.
Besides hybrid vehicles, the battery-powered electric vehicle group also recorded growth signals. VAMA members reported sales of 64 electric vehicles in the early period of the year.
In another development, VinFast said it has handed over 19,503 electric cars in the Vietnamese market in May 2026. Accumulated in the first 5 months of the year, sales reached 97,961 vehicles.
In the company's product structure, the Limo Green model reached 5,108 vehicles in May. The VF 3 models reached 4,770 vehicles, VF 5 reached 3,399 vehicles, VF MPV 7 reached 1,711 vehicles and VF 6 reached 1,674 vehicles.
The auto market in the first months of the year shows the increase of electrified car lines. This is considered an irreversible trend in the green transition process.
