Xpeng - Chinese car manufacturer - has just launched the unique AeroHT model at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). With a 6-wheel design and the ability to deploy an attached helicopter from the rear compartment, AeroHT is considered a breakthrough in the automotive industry.
The AeroHT model, called the "mother ship", has a design similar to the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck. The vehicle has dimensions of 5,500 mm x 2,000 mm x 2,000 mm (length x width x height). Notable features include digital rearview mirrors that can be retracted when not in use.
According to information from Xpeng, upon its launch, the unit received more than 3,000 orders for AeroHT and is expected to begin deliveries in 2026. This model will be manufactured at a modern factory in Guangzhou (China) with a capacity of up to 10,000 vehicles per year.
The AeroHT uses an 800V electrical architecture and is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). Its combined driving range is over 1,000 km. It also functions as a super-fast charging station for helicopters.
The helicopter has a compact cockpit made of carbon fiber, a six-rotor design with foldable blades and arms, and can be controlled manually or automatically. Xpeng said that more than 200 are being tested and have received aviation certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China by 2024.
The starting price of AeroHT is expected to be around 2 million yuan (about 6 billion 900 million) in China. However, Xpeng has not announced plans to distribute this product in other markets.
