Xpeng - a Chinese automaker - has just launched a unique AeroHT model at the Consumer Electronics Show ( CES). With a 6-wheel design and the ability to deploy helicopters from the rear cabin, AeroHT is considered a breakthrough in the automotive industry.
The AeroHT model is called a "mother boat", with a design similar to the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck. The vehicle has specifications of 5,500 mm x 2,000 mm x 2,000 mm (length x width x height). Outstanding features include digital rearview mirrors that can be accessed when not in use.
According to information from Xpeng, as soon as it was launched, the unit received more than 3,000 orders for AeroHT and is expected to start delivery in 2026. This model will be produced at a modern factory in Guangzhou (China) with a capacity of up to 10,000 vehicles per year.
AeroHT uses an 800V electric architecture and is an open-range electric vehicle (EREV). The combined driving range of the vehicle is over 1,000 km. The vehicle also acts as a super-fast charging station for helicopters.
The helicopter has a compact carbon fiber cockpit, designed with 6 rotors with folding fans and arms, controlled manually or automatically. Xpeng said that more than 200 are being tested and have received flight certificates from the Civil Aviation Authority of China in 2024.
AeroHT's starting price is expected to be about 2 million yuan (about 6 billion 900 million) in China. However, Xpeng has not announced a distribution plan for this product in other markets.
