Urgent Handling and Cleanup of Waste Causing Pollution
On August 9, according to the report of PV Lao Động, on Trunk Road No. 3 in the industrial cluster of Vũ Thư town, adjacent to the residential area of Minh Quàn village (Minh Quang commune, Vũ Thư district, Thái Bình province), the units have been and are organizing the collection and cleanup of the previously accumulated waste, which was scattered and piled up for a long time, causing pollution and environmental degradation in the surrounding area.
Earlier, on August 8, Lao Động Newspaper published an article “Pollution from Self-Generated Waste in Industrial Clusters in Thái Bình” reporting on the issue: In recent times, in Minh Quàn village, Minh Quang commune, adjacent to Vũ Thư town's industrial cluster, a self-generated waste collection point appeared and existed on the road, where individuals from various places brought and dumped waste indiscriminately, causing environmental pollution and severely affecting the daily life of residents in the area and workers in the industrial cluster.
Notably, prior to this, representatives of voters and residents of Minh Quàn village stated that they had repeatedly submitted their opinions to the Minh Quang Commune People's Committee and later the Vũ Thư District People's Committee also issued a directive to inspect and request relevant units to implement measures to promptly address this issue.
However, the situation of self-generated waste scattered and piled up in the area has not been fully resolved and has even become more complex; if not handled promptly, it will cause more severe environmental pollution, affecting the daily life and health of residents, as well as posing a risk to public order and security in the area.
Need for Tighter Management and Supervision to Prevent Reoccurrence
After receiving feedback from the public and the media, on August 7, Mr. Trần Đức Toản, Vice Chairman of the Vũ Thư District People's Committee, signed a document No. 1526/UBND-TNMT to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Land Development Center, the Industrial Cluster, the Minh Quang Commune People's Committee, and the Thái Bình branch of Đông Đô Group, requesting them to urgently implement the cleanup of self-generated waste in the Vũ Thư town industrial cluster.
In which, the Thái Bình branch of Đông Đô Group (the investor of the Vũ Thư town industrial cluster) was requested to urgently handle the waste at the industrial cluster's land, not to allow unauthorized dumping. Enhance inspection and supervision, promptly detect and report to the competent authorities for handling any violations of waste dumping regulations at the managed land.
The Minh Quang Commune People's Committee is to conduct a review, intensify the collection and transportation of waste generated by households in the area adjacent to the Vũ Thư town industrial cluster to designated locations for treatment. Direct the inspection and supervision of waste collection units in Minh Quàn village to collect and handle waste in accordance with regulations; urgently issue a plan to close the waste dump in Minh Quàn village and transport it to a centralized treatment facility.
Enhance public awareness, inspection, and prompt handling of any waste dumping activities by organizations or individuals (if any) within the commune's administrative boundaries.
Implementing the above directive, from August 8 to 9, according to information from the leaders of the Vũ Thư District People's Committee and the actual observations of PV Lao Động, the Thái Bình branch of Đông Đô Group and relevant units have mobilized personnel and machinery to the self-generated waste collection point on Trunk Road No. 3 in the Vũ Thư town industrial cluster to collect and clean up the scattered waste along the road.
“We require the units to resolve and handle the cleanup of the existing waste. Moreover, it is essential to strengthen management and supervision in the coming time to prevent the reoccurrence of this situation,” said a leader of the Vũ Thư District People's Committee.
