Afternoon 11.8, the Preventive Health Department, Ministry of Health, issued a document to the Provincial Department of Health, Thanh Hoa Province, and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology regarding the continued strengthening of measures to prevent and control the disease of white fever.
According to information from the disease surveillance system, Thanh Hoa Province (Muong Lat District) has recorded cases of white fever and many close contacts with cases of the disease.
To proactively strengthen measures to prevent and control white fever, and prevent the disease from spreading extensively, the Preventive Health Department requested the Director of the Provincial Department of Health to continue directing the implementation of the Prime Minister's instructions at the No. 68/CĐ-TTg document dated July 13, 2024, on the strengthening of measures to prevent and control white fever.
Urgently conduct a thorough review of close contacts with cases of white fever; monitor and promptly detect suspected cases of the disease at the outbreak site and in the community; collect samples and conduct tests to determine cases of the disease and promptly implement measures to isolate, handle outbreaks, and provide prophylactic antibiotic treatment to all close contacts in accordance with the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
Ensure the implementation of the collection, emergency care, sorting, and treatment of patients; establish a separate area for examination, isolation, treatment, and emergency care of patients, minimizing the number of fatalities; strictly implement infection control and prevent cross-infection at healthcare facilities, minimizing the transfer of patients to higher-level hospitals when not necessary.
At the same time, review and record individuals who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated against white fever in all communes, wards, and organizations, and organize supplementary, catch-up, and booster vaccinations, especially in areas where the disease is circulating and vaccination rates are low.
Strengthen activities to raise awareness about the disease of white fever and preventive measures, enabling the public to proactively implement preventive measures and closely cooperate with healthcare units during treatment.
Organize the close monitoring of the health of children, students, and students at educational institutions; regularly clean and ventilate classrooms, and promptly notify healthcare units when suspected cases are detected to be isolated and handled promptly, preventing outbreaks.
The Preventive Health Department also requested the Provincial Department of Health to review and ensure the provision of logistical support, including vaccines, antibiotics for prophylactic treatment, antitoxin, and chemicals, to implement preventive and control activities; report to the Provincial People's Committee to allocate funds and mobilize resources to ensure logistical support for preventive and control activities. In cases of necessity, mobilize human resources, dispatch mobile anti-epidemic teams, and emergency rescue teams to support localities in implementing preventive and control activities.
Organize training sessions for preventive health staff and healthcare staff on the contents of guidance on disease surveillance, prevention and control, diagnosis, treatment, emergency care, patient care, infection control, and organize inspection and supervision teams to direct and supervise at high-risk areas.
Regarding the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Preventive Health Department requested close monitoring of the disease situation and directing, guiding, and supporting localities in implementing preventive and control measures.
