On October 23, the Can Tho City Department of Health organized the first grassroots health conference in 2024. The conference aimed to report on the results of implementing Directive No. 25-CT/TW dated October 25, 2023 of the Central Party Secretariat on continuing to consolidate, improve and enhance the quality of grassroots health activities in the new situation. On that basis, key solutions were proposed to promote this work.
In Can Tho City, to effectively implement Directive 25-CT/TW of the Secretariat, the City People's Committee has assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to effectively implement many tasks and solutions to raise awareness and sense of responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels in consolidating, perfecting and improving the quality of grassroots health care activities in the city; aiming for the goal that by 2030, each commune, ward and town health station will have at least one full-time doctor, 100% of communes will meet national health criteria and over 95% of the population will participate in health insurance.
The city's health sector also focuses on mobilizing all social resources to invest in infrastructure for medical facilities at district, commune, ward and town levels; prioritizes training family medicine specialists to work at district, commune and ward levels; mobilizes district and commune doctors and experts to support health stations...
At the conference, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen suggested that the city should strengthen inspection and supervision of the government and professional agencies in performing their responsibilities, improve the quality of operations and facilitate people in accessing and using grassroots health services.
Continue to improve the effectiveness of state management and the coordination responsibility of agencies and organizations in developing and implementing policies and laws on grassroots healthcare; urgently deploy a unified organizational and management model for district-level health centers comprehensively managed by the district-level People's Committee before July 1, 2025.
On the same afternoon, within the framework of the Conference, an international scientific workshop on solutions for developing primary health care in the new situation took place.
On October 21, Can Tho Department of Health coordinated with Vinh Thanh District People's Committee and Thot Not and Cai Rang Districts to inaugurate Family Doctor Clinics at 3 Health Stations: Thuong Thanh (Cai Rang), Thanh Tien (Vinh Thanh), Thuan Hung (Thot Not). These are also the health stations chosen by the Department of Health to pilot the Family Doctor Clinic model in the city.
