The City People's Committee has just issued an Official Dispatch on strengthening the management of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products in the area.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City requested the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City, Directors of Departments, Heads of Agencies, Departments and Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards to seriously grasp and implement the Resolution of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister's Decision on banning the production, trading, import, storage, transportation and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism... to organize propaganda about the harmful effects of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products on the health and lifestyle of users through media, social networks, grassroots loudspeaker systems, schools, hospitals; disseminate legal regulations related to criminal sanctions and handling to deter and coordinate the handling of violations in accordance with regulations.
Assign the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the City Police and relevant agencies and units to strengthen inspection and control of the market, especially grocery stores, coffee shops, entertainment service establishments, online points of sale... to strengthen the fight against and prevent the smuggling, storage, trading and use of electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products.
The Department of Industry and Trade also coordinates inspection, examination and strict handling of organizations and individuals producing, trading, importing, storing, transporting, and using electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products according to regulations.
The People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for directing their affiliated units to organize propaganda, inspection, and handling of violations; receive, make records and destroy electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products handed over by people, complete the peak period before August 31 and maintain regularly.
According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, strengthening management and prevention of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products demonstrates the City's strong political determination in protecting public health, building a healthy and civilized living environment, towards the goal of sustainable development.
