According to statistics from the Can Tho Health Sector, as of August 3, 2025, the whole city has recorded 1,539 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 318 cases compared to the same period in 2024.
Faced with the risk of the epidemic breaking out and spreading, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested relevant agencies and units to focus on implementing key contents to minimize the number of dengue fever cases, preventing the epidemic from spreading in the area.
The Department of Health is assigned to closely monitor the epidemic situation, detect new cases early, treat them promptly and thoroughly handle outbreaks as soon as they are detected in accordance with the professional instructions of the Ministry of Health. Can Tho Health Sector needs to strengthen the direction, guidance and inspection of health units on monitoring, detecting, handling outbreaks, preventive measures, treating dengue fever and other epidemics. Medical examination and treatment facilities must ensure adequate medicine, medical equipment and human resources to be ready to receive, treat and refer patients in a timely manner.

For the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Department of Health and local authorities, promote propaganda work, provide complete and timely information on the epidemic situation and prevention and control measures. Information needs to be conveyed through mass media and the grassroots information system, helping people proactively prevent and go to medical facilities when there are signs of suspected disease.
The Department of Education and Training is required to direct educational institutions to actively participate in environmental sanitation, mosquito control, and mosquito control campaigns in schools and communities; need to integrate dengue prevention and control into extracurricular activities suitable for each level of education, in order to raise awareness and action of students and teachers in epidemic prevention work.
Regarding financial resources, the Department of Finance coordinates with the Department of Health to advise on allocating funds for dengue prevention and control, ensuring savings, efficiency, avoiding waste and complying with legal regulations on the budget.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City is recommended to direct member organizations to coordinate with the health sector and local authorities to encourage people to participate in environmental sanitation activities, kill mosquitoes, and kill mosquito larvae according to professional instructions, contributing to preventing the spread of the epidemic.
