Regarding the case of Paris Dentistry and Cosmetic Hospital performing late thoracic suspension surgery without bags, combined with bicep liposuction leading to complications and death, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health shared with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper that the case has been transferred to the investigation agency for further investigation.
Previously, on May 28, Ms. P.T.T.D (32 years old) went to Paris Dental and maxillofacial Hospital for examination and was scheduled for deferred thoracic surgery without sagging, combined with bicep fat extraction. Ms. D underwent premenstrual tests, pre-operative examinations and took a history exam.
After completing the bicep liposuction surgery, when the doctor continued to perform the right chest canal, Ms. D suddenly had a rapid heartbeat. The surgical team suspected that she had been poisoned by anesthetics and proceeded to handle her according to the protocol. After 5 minutes, Ms. D suddenly had a cardiac arrest, blood oxygen ( SpO2) and blood pressure could not be measured, the electrocardiogram recorded the heart failure.
The team performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and activated the hospital red alert. An hour later, Ms. D had a pulse and heart rate again, then continued to have a second heart attack.
Paris Dentistry and Cosmetic Hospital continues to actively resuscitate, at the same time activate inter-hospital red alert and hold consultations with Thong Nhat Hospital, transfer the disease.
At Thong Nhat Hospital, the patient was in a state of anesthesia and ventilation through the endotracheal tube. The condition became more and more serious and did not improve, Ms. D died at 0:15 on May 29.
Paris Dentistry and Cosmetic Surgery Hospital has temporarily suspended procedures and cosmetic surgery since May 29.
Earlier, this facility has repeatedly occurred medical incidents causing serious consequences. The last time was in September 2024, the Inspectorate of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health was fined with the total amount of VND 90 million because the hospital violated the provisions of professional laws in medical examination and treatment, causing stroke for patients. At the same time, suspend operation for 3 months. At the end of the suspension deadline, the cosmetic department of this facility worked again and let the deadly complication occur.
