The patient was Ms. N.T.H (51 years old, Co Do district, Can Tho city) who went to Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital (Can Tho city) in a state of severe abdominal pain. According to the story, the patient ate snakehead fish and after a day felt a stomachache in many parts of the navel. Previously, the family took the patient to a private clinic for examination and took medicine to take but it did not help.
At the hospital, the patient was examined by doctors and ordered an abdominal MSCT scan. The abdominal MSCT scan results discovered a foreign object suspected to be a 4.5cm long fish bone, which was stuck tightly to the stomach wall. The patient was diagnosed with a digestive foreign object and was prescribed a stomach endoscopy.

Through endoscopy, the doctor found the fish bone stuck tightly to the stomach wall. The endoscopy team used a tool to remove the foreign object through the endoscopy tube and carefully removed the fish bones safely. After taking the fish bones, the patient no longer had abdominal pain, returned to normal eating and was discharged after a day of treatment.
Doctor CKI. Pham Huu Dung - Deputy Head of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital - said that the foreign object is the fish bone that can be stuck in any location on the digestive tract (from the esophagus to the anus) and cause dangerous complications.
In the above case, luckily the patient went to the hospital in time for an endoscopy to remove the fish bones, avoiding dangerous complications such as ulcers, abscesses, stomach reporns, intestines, peritoneal inflammation and abdominal infections.

Doctors recommend that when eating, people need to be careful to chew slowly and carefully, especially the elderly with tooth loss and young children. In case of suspected bone snoring or other foreign objects, it is necessary to go to a hospital or medical center with an ENT and digestive specialist for early diagnosis and treatment. People should not take folk measures such as swallowing cold rice or using their hands to hook foreign objects, because they can push foreign objects deeper as well as stab deep into the mucous membranes, making the condition worse.
