Research to merge VietNamNet Newspaper and VnExpress into one

The two ministries were assigned to urgently research, arrange, and immediately merge VietNamNet Newspaper and VnExpress Newspaper into one newspaper.

The Government Office has just issued Document No. 1671a/VPCP-TCCV dated February 28 on the draft decree regulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Regarding the proposal of the Ministry of Information and Communications in Submission No. 27/TTr-BTTTT dated February 28 on the promulgation of a decree regulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh gave the following instructions:

The Minister of Science and Technology and the Minister of Information and Communications urgently study and immediately reorganize VietNamNet Newspaper and VnExpress Newspaper into one newspaper; the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society and the Department of Digital Technology Industry into the Department of Digital Economy and Technology.

Report to Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung to sign and issue a decree to take effect from March 1.

Previously, at the 9th Extraordinary Session, the National Assembly resolved to merge the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Science and Technology into the Ministry of Science and Technology. Approving and appointing Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee as Minister of Science and Technology.
