Accordingly, the Department of Maternal and Child Health, Ministry of Health received press reports on the medical incident in the case of Ms. Q.A (28 years old, residing in Bac Giang) when she went to the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
In order to promptly report to the leaders of the Ministry of Health on the above medical incident, the Department of Maternal and Child Health requests the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital to check and verify the information reported and report to the Ministry of Health (through the Department of Maternal and Child Health) on February 25, 2025;
At the same time, urgently review the medical examination and treatment process for Ms. Q.A at the Hospital, providing full information to patients and mass media agencies;
The Ministry of Health also requires the hospital to review the issuance and implementation of professional procedures in medical examination and treatment at the Hospital, promptly rectify the shortcomings and inadequacies (if any), and report to the Ministry of Health.
Responding to this incident, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Director of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, said: Immediately after receiving information about the incident, he directly checked the medical records and worked with relevant teams during the days the patient was in the hospital according to the reflection of the couple.
"First of all, I deeply share and sympathize with the loss of the patient and his family. However, from a professional perspective, I think this is a difficult case, the mother has a leak and is threatened with premature birth at the 25th week of pregnancy. With this case, examination must be very limited," said Professor Anh.
According to Professor Anh, in terms of expertise, the doctors followed the correct procedures. They prescribe the best medicine for patients. But as I said, leaks, in early pregnancy like this (a 25-week pregnancy), are very unlikely to have a chance.
The Director of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital also affirmed that the hospital is reviewing and reviewing all procedures for receiving, examining and treating patients, and will strictly handle anyone with an incorrect attitude towards patients.
