According to news from Can Tho City General Hospital, the City Department of Health has assigned the Hospital to coordinate with Co Do Commune People's Committee to implement a large-scale free periodic health check-up program, targeting about 10,378 people, lasting from August 22 to the end of November 1, 2026.
The program aims to implement the Plan of Can Tho City People's Committee on organizing periodic health check-ups and screening for people in the city in 2026 and the plan of the Department of Health. In which, the task is to assign each medical examination and treatment facility to coordinate to support 3-5 health stations in organizing health check-ups.
In 02 days (August 22-23), the first examination tables at Co Do Commune Health Station have been lit up early. About 1,000 people were present for general examinations, tests and completely free health consultations. The examination content closely follows the latest professional guidance of the Ministry of Health, with each item aimed at a specific screening target.
For example, when exploiting medical history, measuring blood pressure, weight, height, BMI is the initial screening step to detect risk factors such as overweight, obesity, high blood pressure.
With blood tests, there will be a general analysis of blood cells (anemia screening), blood sugar (diabetes screening), Ure and Creatin (kidney function assessment), AST/ALT (liver function assessment).
Along with that, urine tests help detect early signs of urinary tract infections and kidney diseases; straight chest X-rays to screen for pulmonary tuberculosis and lung and pleural diseases;...

Among the total targets mentioned above, the program focuses on the group of people with chronic diseases, people with meritorious services, the elderly, people in difficult circumstances and people belonging to ethnic minority groups.
All medical examination results of people are entered, connected and directly interconnected with the Personal Health Data Portal of the Ministry of Health, the health insurance assessment information system of Vietnam Social Security and the Electronic Health Record on the VNeID application of the Ministry of Public Security.
This is the core platform for each citizen to have a unified electronic health record, helping to easily track and look up medical history anytime, anywhere, instead of disjointed examinations, lack of interconnection and linkage as before.
Doctors recommend that people: should skip breakfast and not drink soft drinks or coffee before taking blood for blood sugar testing (because eating and drinking can distort the results); bring a CCCD card with a chip or VneID for convenient information comparison; come early according to the time frame for taking samples for testing to avoid waiting for a long time;...
