Vinh Long proactively "knocks down to every door" to provide free health check-ups for people

HOÀNG LỘC |

Vinh Long - The campaign "90 days and nights of free health screening for the whole population" has examined and recorded data of about 1.5 million people, reaching nearly 43% of the population.

The campaign was launched by Vinh Long health sector from August 11 to November 9, aiming to change health care methods from passive to proactive, bringing healthcare closer to the people.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hang - Director of Vinh Long Department of Health - said that the breakthrough point of the campaign is to shift from waiting for patients to come for examination to proactively "knocking on every door", focusing on early detection of non-communicable chronic diseases.

According to Ms. Hang, the health sector implements the "5 clear" motto, including clear people, clear tasks, clear responsibilities, clear time and clear results; and commits to "3 no's": not missing out on people, not missing out on post-examination consultations and not leaving data blank.

Examination points are organized at health stations, hamlets, neighborhoods, schools; elderly people and people with disabilities are supported with examinations at their homes. Cases with abnormal indicators are consulted, guided for treatment or transferred to appropriate levels.

As of August 17, about 1.5 million people have been examined and data recorded, reaching nearly 43% of the population. However, the coverage rate between localities is still different; 112/124 communes and wards reach 20-50%, while 4 localities are below 20%.

To accelerate, the health sector coordinates with local authorities to review people who have not been examined, assign specific targets, strengthen communication to each household and arrange mobile forces and medical equipment in areas with low rates.

According to the Director of the Department of Health, the campaign also aims to synchronize health check-up data of more than 3.3 million people into electronic health records integrated on VNeID. This will be the basis for forming continuous medical records, supporting people and improving the effectiveness of community health management.
