For the first time Quang Ninh has simultaneous kidney transplants for two patients

    On the evening of April 8, the Quang Ninh health sector marked an important milestone when it simultaneously performed two kidney transplants for two patients from donated organs of a brain-dead person.

    According to the plan, two kidney transplants will be performed simultaneously at Quang Ninh General Hospital and Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital.

    The two kidneys were taken from a brain-dead organ donor at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) and then transported to two hospitals.

    At Quang Ninh General Hospital, after receiving the kidney, doctors performed kidney transplant surgery.

    The kidney transplant was supported by leading experts from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.

    The implementation of kidney transplant techniques right at provincial hospitals such as Quang Ninh marks a remarkable step forward in local health care, demonstrating the smooth and effective coordination between central and local health facilities - a key factor in replicating organ transplant techniques in the Vietnamese health system
