Vinh Long health sector proactively tightens COVID-19 epidemic prevention

HOÀNG LỘC |

Vinh Long tightens COVID-19 epidemic prevention at medical facilities. Careful preparation and high vigilance help people feel secure when examining and treating patients.

A solid front in epidemic prevention

As a frontline unit, Vinh Long General Hospital has created trust from the people thanks to its professional style and dedicated service attitude in the current COVID-19 epidemic prevention work.

Mr. Le Van Ba (Ward 4, Vinh Long City), a cardiovascular patient who is regularly re-examined, said that compared to previous epidemics, the hospital is now much better organized. From the moment he entered, he was instructed by the staff to wear a mask and disinfect his hands. The process was much clearer and more orderly, which made him feel very secure.

"This needs to be maintained regularly as a habit in the health sector, not waiting until the outbreak to restart, because then it may be too late to control," Mr. Ba added.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen - Director of Vinh Long General Hospital, to ensure maximum safety and prevent COVID-19 infection, the Hospital has proactively arranged separate isolation areas for each group of diseases, along with specialized clinics for suspected patients.

Infection control has been strongly enhanced, with the screening and referral process of patients being strictly implemented right from the initial admission stage.

"In particular, the Hospital has prepared human resources, medicine, equipment and beds, ensuring the ability to receive and promptly treat infectious cases," Mr. Truyen added.

Synchronously directing and preventing cross-infection

Dr. Vo The Chau - Deputy Director in charge of Vinh Long Lung Hospital said that the hospital has completed preparations for the isolation area and the plan to admit, diagnose, and treat COVID-19 patients.

Infection control work has been strictly implemented, along with cross-infection prevention measures have been strengthened, especially for high-risk groups.

"The isolation area is being supplemented with equipment and a COVID-19 treatment team has been established to ensure the ability to admit and effectively treat serious cases," added Dr. Vo The Chau.

Talking to Lao Dong, Dr.BS Ho Thi Thu Hang-Director of Vinh Long Department of Health-said that from the beginning of the year, the province has not recorded Covid-19 cases. However, before the epidemic situation shows signs of increasing in many places, the health sector has actively supervised, closely monitored and implemented measures to prevent and combat in the community and health facilities.

COVID-19 is currently being treated as a group B infectious disease, similar to seasonal flu. Medical facilities are ready to admit, provide emergency care, and treat if there are cases. Special attention should be paid to infection prevention in hospitals, protecting patients in high-risk groups such as the elderly, people with underlying diseases, pregnant women, etc.

complying with disease prevention recommendations such as wearing proper masks, maintaining personal hygiene, limiting crowded places, getting fully vaccinated... are still simple but effective measures to protect yourself and the community, said Ms. Hang.
