Commune and town officials owe money for rice restaurants
Mr. Nguyen Dang Toan, owner of the Com Que restaurant in Kien Duc town, Dak R'lap district (Dak Nong province) said that Kien Thanh commune and Kien Duc town are owing the restaurant nearly 180 million VND for food. In which, it is mainly lunch to receive guests, arising from 2016 to 2022.
According to Mr. Toan, he opened the restaurant in 2013. For many years, the delegations of cadres of the two localities mentioned above often come to eat and drink but do not pay immediately, only signing receipts on receipts and monitoring books. Some times I paid, most of the rest was a debt.
"In 2017 alone, Kien Duc town ordered rice to receive guests more than 50 times. There were many times when the Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of the town personally stood up to order the dish. The total debt to date is more than 110 million VND" - Mr. Toan said.
Similarly, Kien Thanh commune also owes more than 60 million VND. After each meal, Mr. Toan keeps the invoice, signature confirmation and list of participants as a basis. "I have sent invoices, photos and contacted them many times but no one has resolved them," Mr. Toan added.

Over the years, the debt has increased
Mr. Toan is concerned that debt collection will become increasingly difficult because many cadres have retired, transferred jobs and the localities will soon merge. Mr. Toan just hopes that localities will be responsible for coordinating the handling, and cannot let the restaurant continue to carry this debt.
"Over the years, the debt has increased. I also carefully recorded each meal, along with photos of the bill, and sent them to the responsible staff for comparison. But then everything fell silent, said Mr. Toan.
Sharing about this, a leader of the People's Committee of Kien Duc town confirmed that this was a debt from the previous term. He has only been in the job for about a year and did not mention the debt when handing over.
Information from the People's Committee of Kien Duc town said that the unit is expected to establish a working group to verify. However, it is not yet possible to confirm whether it can be paid or not, but we must wait for opinions from the Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee and the District People's Committee.
The leader of the Dak R'lap District People's Committee said that the unit has received information reflecting on some localities owing business households and is directing relevant units to inspect, verify and advise on handling plans.
