In recent years, medical centers and health stations in Ho Chi Minh City have faced a serious shortage of human resources. Currently, this situation has changed positively.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Van Cuong - Director of District 8 Medical Center - said that the unit has made significant progress in consolidating and developing medical human resources. From about 150 employees in 2021, the number has now nearly doubled, about 280 people. In particular, the number of doctors has increased from 15 to more than 60.
District 8 Medical Center is supported by upper-level hospitals with free training on improving professional capacity. At the same time, the unit was provided with a spacious and spacious headquarters by the city, ensuring facilities and equipment for people to feel secure when coming for medical examination and treatment; building a culture of communication, friendly behavior, and taking patients as the center.

Mr. Hoang Van Cuong commented that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has had many solutions to help increase resources for grassroots health care, such as the practical training program at general hospitals associated with health stations. Since then, many young doctors have proactively chosen to work in grassroots health care after completing their practice program and having a practice license.
Earlier this year, 3 young doctors returned to work at 3 commune health stations in Can Gio district, according to the practice program at the general hospital attached to the health station.
According to the Can Gio District Medical Center, young doctors will return to health stations to reduce the shortage of doctors, improve the capacity of human resources for grassroots health care in 2025 and the following years, ensuring the target of 100% of health stations having doctors.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, in recent years, the city has implemented many activities to improve the quality of grassroots health care such as investing in infrastructure for health stations to ensure conversion of operations according to the principle of family medicine. There are 55 health stations that have been invested in renovating and upgrading according to the principle of family medicine.
In the coming time, 146 health stations will be invested in repair, upgrading, renovating, and building new ones. The health sector advised and recommended that the City People's Committee retain the facilities of health stations in the merged wards to ensure working conditions and staffing for health stations, in accordance with the allocation of health stations according to population size, not according to administrative boundaries.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City increases human resources for grassroots health care; increases professional support of hospitals for health station operations...
