On December 30, Thang Binh District Police, Quang Nam Province announced that they had initiated a criminal case, prosecuted and detained Dang Ngoc Dong (born in 1971, residing in Ward 1, Ha Lam Town, Thang Binh) to investigate the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
According to the investigation results, Dang Ngoc Dong is the owner of the KIA RIO car, license plate 92A-089.95 and has been granted a registration certificate by the authorities.
At the end of 2021, Dong went on Facebook to search for and fake a car registration certificate (Certificate of Registration) with the same information as the car he owned and a certificate of land use rights, house ownership rights and other assets attached to land in Dong's name.
After obtaining the fake documents, in December 2021, Dong sold the above car to V.D.H (born in 1994, residing in the same district) for 300 million VND and gave V.D.H a fake car registration certificate.
After selling the car, Dong rented the car from V.D.H for personal use, and gave V.D.H a certificate of land use rights, house ownership rights and other assets attached to the land that Dong had previously forged.
In May 2022, Dong continued to sell the above car to Ms. H.T.T (born in 1970, residing in the same district) for 300 million VND and gave Ms. H.T.T a real car registration certificate. Just like the previous car sale, after selling the car, Dong rented the above car from Ms. H.T.T for use.
In early 2024, Dong continued to go on Facebook to find and order a fake car registration certificate like before, then used this fake document and the car to pawn at H.T shop, in KP4, Ha Lam town, for 250 million VND.
Dong used the money he got from the scam to pay off debts and for personal expenses.
Through the struggle, the subject Dong admitted his act of “Fraudulent appropriation of property”. The police seized the vehicle and documents of the case.
The case is being further consolidated by Thang Binh District Police and handled according to regulations.
